Scarecrow making weekend

Want to build a scarecrow but don’t know where to start?

Come along to Sacrewell for our Scarecrow Making Weekend and get creative with us!

📅 Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October 2026
10am – 3pm

Whether you’re planning something spooky, silly, traditional or completely different, we’ll give you a helping hand to bring your scarecrow idea to life, without having to make all the mess at home!

Get creative in the Stone Barn

Our Stone Barn will be open from 10am–3pm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October, with hay, old clothes and arts & crafts available to help you create your scarecrow.

We’ll provide plenty of the basics, but we’d love you to bring along some old clothes and any extra materials or decorations you’d like to use to give your scarecrow its own personality.

Our Visitor Experience Officers will also be on hand throughout the day to offer help, ideas and scarecrow-making tips.

Enter your finished scarecrow 🏆

Once your masterpiece is complete, simply take it along to Reception to register it for our Sacrewell Scarecrow Competition.

Your scarecrow will then join the other creations on display at Sacrewell ready for our Halloween visitors and staff to vote for their favourites from 24th – 31st October.

And there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including a 2027 Sacrewell Family Annual Pass for 2 adults and 2 children for our overall winner!

What to bring

We’ll have materials available to get you started, but please bring:

  • Old clothes for your scarecrow
  • Any decorations, accessories or craft materials you’d like to add
  • Most importantly, your imagination!

Please make sure anything you bring is child-friendly, safe and suitable for an outdoor scarecrow that will be displayed in the autumn weather.
