Step back in time and discover the traditional rural crafts and skills that have shaped our countryside at Heritage Day at Sacrewell Farm.
Meet talented craftspeople from Nene Coppice Crafts and the Peterborough Weavers and Spinners Guild as they demonstrate traditional techniques including willow weaving, green woodworking, hazel fencing, wooden spoon carving, weaving, felting, leatherwork and more.
Alongside the demonstrations, enjoy tractor rides around the farm, explore our historic 18th-century watermill, and uncover the fascinating history of Sacrewell through guided tours, archive displays and heritage talks throughout the day.
With plenty to see, learn and enjoy, Heritage Day is a wonderful day out for all ages.

Guided Mill Tours & Talks

Join Stuart, one of our knowledgeable volunteers, for a 15-minute guided tour of our beautiful 18th-century watermill. Discover how the mill worked, its role in the local community and the stories behind one of Sacrewell’s most iconic buildings.

Heritage Crafts
All Day | The Stone Barn
We welcome Nene Coppicing and Crafts as well as Peterborough Spinners and Weavers Guild.
Discover the art of willow weaving, peg weaving, pole lathe and other green woodworking, leather work, carving spoons and nettle cordage and net making! Little ones can get involved with hands on peg loom weaving and weaving on cardboard.
Scavenger Hunt Around the Mill – Catch the mice! (all three floors!)
All Day | The Mill
Grab a trail sheet and set off on an adventure to catch the mice hidden around the mill.
Duck Race
The Mill Stream | 11:45am
Ready… set… splash! Our much-loved Duck Race is back! £1 a duck from reception, prizes for the first 3 winners, and heaps of fun.
Pond Dipping
The Mill Stream | 2pm
Meet us down at the Mill Stream where you can discover what’s beneath the waters surface! Grab a net, aided by one our team, then use magnifying glasses and identification sheets to see what you’ve found!
The Cheesy Pig!
11am–3pm | Near the Playbarn
If you love pulled pork you’ll love The Cheesy Pig! Joining us for the day with their famous dishes such as The Pooh Bear and The Pig Mac!
