May Half Term

Get outside this May half term and have fun at the farm. We’ll have nature themed activities including a wildlife walk, bug hunting and pond dipping throughout the week. Discover a new skill with our rural crafts such as black-clay-smithing and leatherworks. Or meet our small furry friends during our animal handling sessions. Our timetable changes daily and these activities are subject to change. See reception for details.

Sheep Shearing Weekend

It’s time for the fleeces to come off at our annual Sheep Shearing weekend on the 26th – 26th of May. The age-old skill of shearing has been passed down from generation to generation and Ross Priddle will give demonstrations of his expertise over both days. Visitors can find out what happens after the sheep have been shorn and his talks will also cover the history of shearing, methods, and techniques, in addition to how the fleeces are used.

Wildlife Workshop with Froglife

On Wednesday 30th, Froglife will be hosting a Wildlife workshop which lasts 1-2 hours at no additional charge. The sessions include an introduction to wildlife friendly gardening, the opportunity to learn some basic identification and surveying techniques for amphibians and reptiles and a take-home pack with handy leaflets and information designed to help you take simple steps to improve your plot for wildlife at home. There will also be some pond dipping. Ask reception for details.

Falconry Display

As part of our Half Term activities, we’ve invited Fens Falconry to the farm on Wednesday 30th for some flying demonstrations. They’ll be here all day so come and say hello to these magnificent birds of prey and watch some amazing flying demonstrations. See reception for times, normal admission applies.
