Tractor Driver

Location: Sacrewell Farm, Peterborough, PE8 6HJ

Hours: Weekends and school holidays as required

Salary: Hourly, at National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage (depending on age)

Start date: December

Sacrewell Farm is a family-friendly visitor attraction combining education and exploration with fun, hands-on experiences for all ages. We’re home to a wide range of animals, seasonal events, and outdoor activities – and we’re looking for a skilled, safety-conscious Tractor Driver to join our team.

The role

As a Tractor Driver, you’ll play a vital role in creating magical moments for our visitors. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of tractor rides, enhancing the visitor experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Transporting visitors on tractor rides
  • Ensuring the tractor and trailer are safe, well maintained and pre-ride inspected
  • Undertaking passenger safety checks
  • Operating the tractor/trailer ride in a safe manner (with appropriate speed, route awareness, passenger supervision)
  • Carrying out or supporting risk assessments and ensuring visitor safety throughout
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE guidance for passenger carriage on trailers
  • Supporting other Scarewell activities and events as needed

About you

We’re looking for someone reliable, practical, and engaging – someone who enjoys meeting people, loves being outdoors, and takes pride in creating great experiences for our visitors.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Confident and competent driver
  • Previous experience of tractor and trailer driving
  • Good understanding of machinery maintenance and safe operation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, friendly team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible approach – weekend or seasonal work will be required

Kids Country at Sacrewell Outreach Learning Officer

Location: The William Scott Abbott Trust – Sacrewell Farm, Peterborough PE8 6HJ

Hours: Fixed term – funded (Monday to Friday full-time or part-time)

Salary: £26,000 FTE

Start date: February 2026

About us…

Sacrewell is a popular farm attraction located to the west of Peterborough with around 85,000 visitors per year. We are part of The William Scott Abbott Trust, an agricultural education charity with over 60 years of history.

An exciting opportunity to join the team at Sacrewell has arisen as a result of a partnership between The William Scott Abbott Trust and the East of England Agricultural Society (EEAS).

The Trust and EEAS are looking for someone amazing to help deliver curriculum-based educational workshops at regional primary schools and at partner locations.

The Kids Country at Sacrewell Learning Officer will be part of the education team based at Sacrewell, with the post fully funded for a fixed term by The East of England Agricultural Society. The initial duration of the position is 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on funding and project needs.

The Learning Officer will be responsible for developing curriculum-based hands-on education workshops about the journey from farm to fork, sustainable farming, and healthy eating habits, fostering awareness of the farming industry, food production and sustainability. They will deliver the workshops to KS1 and KS2 children in primary schools within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, and at partner locations. They will also plan and co-ordinate a Food & Farming event at Sacrewell Farm.

Tasks include but are not limited to designing curriculum-based workshops; attending schools to deliver hands-on classroom-based workshops; maintaining and enhancing a volunteer network, creating copy for websites and social media, and measuring the impact and reach of the workshops.

It is expected that the role will be filled by an individual who has experience working in an education setting, has current knowledge of the National Curriculum in primary schools, and can demonstrate planning and delivery of events aimed at children.

The Trust will consider both full-time and part-time working, and working flexibility according to the needs of the business if possible.

Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Trust. This may include some weekend or bank holiday working. In addition, all employees are expected to adhere to the Trust’s commitment to providing a safe and positive working environment for all.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum-based hands-on education workshops about the journey from farm to fork, sustainable farming, and healthy eating habits, fostering awareness of the farming industry, food production and sustainability.
  • Deliver workshops to KS1 and KS2 children in primary schools within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire and at partner locations, reaching approximately 3000 children per year.
  • Build and retain a network of schools within the three counties.
  • Retain and engage existing EEAS volunteers, recognising their valuable experience and long-standing contributions.
  • Prepare activity aids and props including signage, posters, display boards, booklets and print outs.
  • Conduct periodic content reviews to ensure materials remain educationally enriching, relevant and engaging.
  • Gather feedback from teachers and pupils.
  • Produce copy for website/social content and press releases.
  • Develop a project-specific monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework to track activities, measure impact, and ensure compliance with EEAS’s charitable objectives.
  • Monitor the number of workshops developed and delivered, and track attendance figures and the number of schools participating.
  • Collect and analyse lessons learned to enhance the performance and delivery of Kids Country in future years.
  • Provide content for a monthly communications report.
  • Plan and deliver a Food and Farming Day at Sacrewell Farm for primary-aged children.

Essential experience, skills and attributes

  • Experience of working in a primary education setting
  • Experience of developing education workshops or schemes of work and delivering them independently
  • Good all-round confident communicator
  • Competent driver with clean driving licence and own vehicle
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Understanding of H&S and ability to conduct dynamic risk assessments
  • Ability to plan and deliver an event
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to learn and share new skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work within a team

Desirable experience

  • Experience of working outdoors or within agriculture, food and farming
  • Experience of volunteering or working with volunteers
  • IT proficient including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good social media knowledge
