Stained Glass Workshop

During this workshop you will learn the traditional technique of copper foiling from the tutors from Strawberry Glass. You will work with the vibrant and glowing colours of handmade glass, capturing the summer sunshine to create your own unique suncatcher. The workshop will take place on Saturday 21st of July, where you can choose either a morning session from 10am-12.30am or an afternoon session from 1.30pm-4pm. The workshop will last two and a half hours and costs £55.

What’s included:

  • learn to grind and clean the glass
  • be instructed on the technique of copper foiling
  • use of tools, safety equipment and all the materials that you will need
  • instruction from experienced tutors from Strawberry Glass
  • create your own suncatcher to take home with you
  • tea or coffee and biscuits
  • admission onto the site for the day for the ticket holder

This workshop is suitable for ages 16 and above. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should consult a doctor before booking as some of the materials used have a lead content. Please arrive at reception 10 minutes before your session is due to start. Teas and coffees will be provided at the start of your session.

  • goggles and gloves to protect you from lead and glass residues when cutting, grinding, leading and soldering
  • tea or coffee and biscuits
  • admission onto the site for the day for the ticket holder
  • materials to make your own suncatcher

What you need to bring and wear:

  • clothing that has no loose ties
  • do not wear jewellery or scarves that could get caught in machinery
  • tie back long hair
  • wear flat, comfortable, covered shoes
  • bring any prescription spectacles you normally wear for close work.
