Vikings Reenactment Weekend

Discover what it takes to be a Viking warrior – see archery demonstrations, weapons displays, and battle skirmishes with the local Saxons! Visit the Viking and Saxon camps to experience life around 1,000 years ago. And have a go at the fun family activities too.

11am  – Weapons Display – demonstration of equipment, skills  and strategies relating to Viking and Anglo-Saxon combat in the 10th Century

12pm – Archery Display – demonstration of equipment, skills  and strategies relating to archery from the 10th Century

2pm – Young Warrior Training – visiting children of primary school age will be invited to train as Viking warriors

3pm – Main battle – a recreation of a battle between the Viking sokemen of the area  from the early 10th Century

10am – 4.30pm – the Living History Encampment will be open for visitors to meet craftsmen and women and people going about everyday domestic and farming tasks from the 10th Century.

10:30am – 4:30pm – in our half hour Viking Blacksmithing Sessions you can make a rune, a troll cross or a mini Thor hammer on the forge with Dave (there is an additional £15 charge for this activity)
