Why take children on a farm visit? Pupils of all ages and abilities need valid, stimulating and memorable learning activities and, with the launch of the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto at the end of 2006, teachers are being encouraged more and more to take their children on visits. The National Curriculum offers many opportunities for farm visits, throughout Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. At Sacrewell it is easy to use our farm to create an adventure outside the classroom that will cover and extend what you might normally be covering inside the classroom back at school on a more ordinary day. We can offer a unique range of teaching opportunities. For example, pupils can have hands on contact with new and old farming equipment as well as traditional farm animals. |
|
They can learn about how farming practices have
changed over the years and take a tractor ride around our newest farming
venture, our organic mixed farm. Older children may even want to explore
the new, organic pack house. Children may also explore our working 18th century
watermill. You will find all the staff at Sacrewell to be dedicated and highly knowledgeable about the farming industry as a whole, and more than happy to help in any way. A Sacrewell Day |
